Silvio Goglio earned his degree in Sociology, he then specialized in political economy at Istao in Ancona and in social research at the Graduate Research Center of City University in New York. Since 1976 he has taught Political Economy at the University of Trento, becoming associate professor in 1985. He has conducted research in regional development at the Department of Geography of Durham University (UK), at the Institute of Economics of the Hungarian Academy of Science in Budapest, at the Centre d’Estudis Planificaciò in Barcelona, and at the Italian American Institute of the City University in New York. He is currently coordinator of the Cooperation and local development research area at Euricse, in Trento, and is part of the faculty of the doctoral school on Local Development and Global Dynamics of the University of Trento. He serves on the editorial board of several journals including Sviluppo Locale, Rassegna and the Journal of Entrepreneurial and Organizational Diversity (JEOD).
