An institutional economics perspective on nonprofit organization
with Vladislav Valentinov, Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Central and Eastern Europe
The seminar will be held on April 29th at 3p.m. at Euricse (Via San Giovanni, 36 – II floor)
The presentation will discuss the possibilities for understanding nonprofit organizations from the perspective of classical institutionalism. It is argued that nonprofit organizations can be viewed as an institutional consequence of the Veblenian pecuniary-industrial dichotomy. The proposed classical institutionalist perspective is contrasted with several strands of new institutional economics literature, such as market failure theories and transaction cost theories of nonprofit organizations. The presentation concludes by discussing further research areas in the institutional economics of nonprofit organizations.
The presentation will be held in English.
