Romano Prodi to speak at the Conference

December 2012 Romano Prodi, former Italian Prime Minister and former European Commission President,  will be among the distinguished speakers during the two-day conference organized by Euricse, ICA and the Alliance of Italian Cooperatives for the International Year of Cooperatives(IYC).

Officially launched by United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, the IYC will be the occasion for a series of events around the world promoting the importance of cooperatives in the global economy.

Among these events, Italy will be host to an international conference in Venice on the 15th and 16th of March:  “Promoting the understanding of co-operatives for a better world”, organized by Euricse (the European Research Institute on Cooperatives and Social Enterprises, based in Trento, Italy), the ICA (International Co-operative Alliance) and the Alliance of Italian Cooperatives. Support for this conference has also been provided by the Ivano Barberini Foundation.

This two-day conference will be one of the most important moments of reflection and discussion between international experts during the IYC on the topics of development and promotion of the cooperative model - a business model proving ever more effective in facing the economic crisis, keeping the worker, sustainability, and social well-being at the center of its focus.
